Law enforcement in Sacramento are investigating a violent incident that occurred on the evening of April 18 at Howe Community Park at the moment Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were breaking up an unauthorized event of a crowd of several hundred.
How It Started
Deputies were first dispatched to Howe Community Park at about 6:30 PM on April 18 after learning of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Not long after, a second caller reported concerning a possible fight breaking out within the park grounds.
Air support was sent to survey the area but reported no active disturbance. However, authorities discovered that an enormous crowd had assembled at the park without official sanction.
The Shooting Itself
Responding units started clearing the unauthorized gathering by surrounding the park and announcing over their public address systems ordering attendees to disperse at once. Nearly 15 minutes were spent for individuals to vacate.
At the height of the dispersal effort that 20 to 25 gunshots were discharged. The shots sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Deputies wasted no time in finding those who had been shot.
Four Gunshot Victims
In total, four shooting victims were located with gunshot injuries. The shooting victims — including a female and three males all reportedly in their twenties — were brought to local Sacramento hospitals. Physical Evidence

These discoveries showed that at least one of the shooters had been sending rounds south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot store. The Home Depot was secured under a brief lockdown as a precaution. CSI investigators and detectives stayed at the location throughout the night.
Suspects Detained
Intelligence received via scanner audio revealed that a vehicle identified as a Kia was contacted by law enforcement in the Solano County area. Four suspects were held for questioning. Sacramento law enforcement were traveling to Solano County to return them to Sacramento for questioning. Footage analyzed by investigators established that there were two gunmen.
